In the framework of the ‘Europe is Us’ programme series, we conducted EU-themes competitions for 12-18 years old pupils in 24 disadvantaged micro-regions of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén and Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg counties. The aim of the programme this way the pupils in these regions could got familiarized with the EU.
Due to the success of the programme, the European Commission Representation in Hungary, the European Parliament Information Office for Hungary and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade continued the project and launched the ‘Europe is Us’ 2 programme series in 2014.

In 2014 we organised 30 schooldays throughout the country in the framework of the ‘Europe is Us’ 2 programme series. Aim of the programme was to provide middle-school-aged pupils with an appropriate level of knowledge of the EU. Accordingly, we developed and organised schooldays, during which pupils could become enthusiastic about learning about the EU. Some of the tasks required merely knowledge but some of them were arcade games. All tasks had to be fulfilled by classes and not individually.

We were responsible for the announcement of the programme series through tendering procedure, for the compilation of the competition tasks as well as for the on-site coordination.

Great preparations preceded the schooldays at most of the educational institutions: pupils had decorated their class rooms with colours of EU-nations, created EU-themed posters, learned peculiar folk dances or prepared the culinary specialities of the European nations.

Feedbacks from the teachers and the pupils have justified the success and the necessity of the programme.

13500 pupils and 780 teachers participated in the schooldays in 2014.
